"The Pond Kids" - The Untold Story of Mark The Pond Guys' Employees

Mark The Pond Guy has been in the landscaping business since the spring of 1989. Over the years, the landscape business has grown into a full-service water feature business, and as his kids have grown, they've become more involved in the business!

When Mark and his wife Cynthia started creating displays at Home Shows in the area in 1999, they would pay their kids to put a sticker label on the back of brochures - 1¢ per label. There would be fierce competition between the kids to get the most labels on the brochures the fastest! Other opportunities to make money involved working at The Pond Store during the summers, catching fish for customers and operating the cash register. Many of our long-time customers will remember the little girls (the "twins") basically running the retail store.

The Pond Kids' First Project - 2001

In 2001, the kids decided that if their dad was too busy building ponds for everyone else, then they would need to build their own pond at home. So they "found" all of the materials and products they needed, and got to work one day. When Mark got home that night, there was a little pond in the ground and all of the materials he needed for a job scheduled for that week were gone. But the kids were on to something - this pond was the first of many water features at the Harp residence, which is now open for Pond Tours several times per year!

So What Are The Pond Kids Up To Now?

Tori - Store Manager

Tori is the youngest Harp kid. She is the one most of you talk to when you call or visit The Pond Store. She is also in charge of scheduling consultations, services, and maintenance, as well as acting as Mark The Pond Guy's Personal Assistant. She also works the display gardens at Home & Garden Shows we do. If any of you have ever purchased plants or fish from our store, you have Tori to thank for ordering and stocking the plant and fish bins to provide the best selection for your pond! Tori is at The Pond Store Monday-Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM and truly cares about her customers. Those of you who know Tori can attest to that fact!
